Seasonal precipitation predictions in Desert Locust summer/winter breeding areas (September 2023 – February 2024) – Ethiopia

The latest models suggest that the northern Sahel will be wet for the remainder of the rainy season during
the summer breeding from Mauritania to western Eritrea but dry in Yemen, Pakistan, and India. During the
autumn, above-normal rains are expected in northwest Mauritania, Western Sahara, Somali in Ethiopia, and
northern Somalia for October and November. During the winter, wet early rains on the Red Sea coast of
Sudan and Saudi Arabia during October may decrease in November, especially in Yemen. During the spring
breeding, slightly wetter rains may start in southeast Iran and southwest Pakistan in February
